Were the ancient Sumerian civilizations' people confused when God created the world 6,000 years ago?

When God created light, water and plants when the Sumerians already had advanced farming and irrigation techniques, how do you think that made them feel? Were they confused? Belittled? Did God even consider the people already living here when he decided to create the earth?
