Should I give up on my dream career?

I want to be a director and/or a screenwriter, but the film industry is so hard to break into. I also really like music and bands and such, so I was thinking about music journalism. But, that's hard to to break into as well. Do you think I should give up on these dreams, or try to work at them? I'm 16 by the way, and in year 12.
