Trying to install ancient OSs on my laptop for kicks. Running into problems. Can you help me?

I'm trying to install stuff like MS-DOS 6.2 and Windows 95 onto my laptop using iso's, but when they boot I get a screen with A:\> and it leaves me to type something in, possibly to get the install going? But I'm not sure what I need to type in to get it to work. What do I need to do?
